Whispering Canyons Foundation

GIVING AT-RISK GIRLS THE CHANCE TO CHANGE THEIR LIVES BY LEARNING HORSEMANSHIP SKILLS

The primary purpose of our Foundation is to provide at risk teen girls with the opportunity to learn horsemanship in a fun, safe, supervised, interactve manner. Horsemanship entails learning about the horse's physical aspects, skills necessary to ride and the basics of care for the animal.

Horsemanship provides the opportunity for the students to learn the personal attributs of self control, responsibility, respect, courage, and self-esteem.

It also provides physical exercise, knowledge and therapeutic physical interaction with intelligent, sensitive and responsive animals. These learning opportunities are of special value to at- risk teen and pre-teen girls who may have fewer opportunities to learn these attributes at home.

"The essential joy
of being with horses
is that it brings us
in contact with
the rare elements of
grace, beauty, spirit and fire."
Sharon Ralls
